This music video is by 'Dizzee Rascal' and is taken from the album 'Boy In Da Corner'.
Cinematography:
There is not much shot rotation throughout the video as mainly extreme close ups to medium long shots are used throughout the video all though this video does avoid viewer fatigue. It does this by how Dizzee Rascal appears in the video as in some shots, only the line can be seen moving through the shot and then it forms Dizzee Rascal at several points in the video as well as some of the lyrics.
Mise-en-scene:
The costume Dizzee wears in the video is a tracksuit but he alternates them as in different shots he is wearing different tracksuits. He also wears a basketball shirt at several different points in the video. The body language in the video is very aggressive which is very common for this type of music especially as some of the lyrics are "when the hammer hits your head, it splits like a banana". Throughout the video Dizzee is located mainly in the centre of the frame although there are several points where he is just off centre which is very effective as it aids in avoiding viewer fatigue. The video has a mixture of low and high key lighting which I think is very effective as when the high key lighting is used it is mainly on Dizzee so the audience can see him and the low key is used in the background making Dizzee stand out. In this video there is an unusual colour choice as yellow, black and white are the main colours throughout the whole video but I think it is effective because each colour stands out when it is used drawing the focus of the viewer.
Sound:
In this music video the lip sync in time with the lyrics of the song which is good as it is a main convention of a music video. The song is also in time with the effect used in the video of the oscillating line which is very effective from the audiences point of view as it is very original.
Editing:
The video uses a lot of visual effects such as the oscillating line which changes colour from black to yellow. Also, Dizzee is super imposed onto the background which is very effective as you can see him clearly and he is the main point of focus for the viewer. It also helps to create an interesting video as the background changes and Dizzee appears and disappears with the line which is in time with the music. Another effect used is when the words appear out of the oscillating line, I would like to do something similar to this in my video as it is very effective for the chorus. I could produce it by using a programme such as live-type.
