Music Video Research - Kaiser Chiefs
Cinematography:
In this music video there is a lot of shot rotation as there are a varying amount of shot types such as long shots, mid shots and close ups. The shot rotation helps to avoid viewer fatigue as the varying shots help keep the viewer entertained and make the viewer want to see more of what is happening.
Mise-en-scene:
In this video there are two main locations such as an estate and inside a pub. On the estate there are groups of children running around in 'gangs' which are all identified through their colours. This is a very interesting concept as the lyrics of the video are all about young people and the way it is shown to the video is entertaining as there is a choreographed routine at the end of the where all the people come together especially as the song is about how negative children are.
Editing:
In this music video no special editing effects are used, only straight cuts are used which is very effective as not many music videos have special transitions or effects although there are several such as Katy Perrys' Firework and some music video use fades when changing shots which work well.
Sound:
The music video lip sync is in time with the clips which is key to a successful music video. This stops viewer fatigue by creating an iteresting piece of media which can help to promote the album of the band.
