SJA Assessment Summer Work 25/09

Tom- I'm so sorry it's taken me this time to get to your blog! I had not forgotten you - Apologies!

WWW:
- Your blog is looking really good Tom, I am really impressed with the huge improvement in effort and approach this year! You have clearly taken lots of care taken to compose very good contact sheets Tom- nearly all posts are visual because of the use of contact sheets.
- Evidence of careful thinking and analysis in the posts on Pop and Rock music videos. You make some really observant comments Tom, and I can really see your awareness of the technical aspects (such as editing and camera movement) is strong. Good to see you number some of the shots in your contact sheets, and then making specific reference back to individual shots - this makes the contact sheet more meaningful to your analysis.
- Some good reference to specific conventions / techniques, and a clear understanding of the features of a successful music video.

EBI:
- As I have explained in class, try to show a more varied use of media to create visual posts. You need to move beyond just having contact sheet after contact sheet.I'd suggest that you try to take short extracts (clips) from some of the music videos you have anaylsed instead of relying on contact sheets for all posts. This would boost marks for 'creativity' and 'skill in the use of media and ICT'. Try creating a 'voice over commentary' parhaps for your analysis of the low budget videos to talk through the ideas you liked and the approaches (lighting / shots) that you felt were successful. This would make it much easier to explain thinks like editing and camera movement. Yes, it all takes extra time, but will gain you higher marks in the end.
- Make sure you use the checklist sheet to have all the correct titles and attach correct labels to each post.  - Post 15 - 'Conventions of your genre' - needs visuals
Effort for Summer Work: At this stage - Very Good- Could easily go up to 'excellent' with varied use of media
