There are several key factors to consider when producing a music video such as:
To keep the viewer interested and stop viewer fatigue in the video the content has to be engaging to the viewer which can be achieved in several ways such as the use of lighting or even a simple dance routine and costume as in the video below.
The lip syncing within the video has to be in time to the song other wise the viewer loses interest. I feel that a music video helps to create a world for the audience that the performer wants to let them have an incite into but if the song isn't in time with the lip sync then the world is not as believable for the audience. I couldn't find an example of a video where the lip sync is not in time with the song showing how important it is when making a muic video.
The shots and shot types used are also very important in a music video as they can transport the viewer away from everyday reality depending on the shot types. a good video for this is Aloe Blacc - 'I need dollar' as it splits the screen in two with half the screen showing him looking out of a window and the other half showing how he used to live on the streets. The interesting shot types and the way the film is edited make it very interesting to watch.
costumes, props and locations are also very key when filming a music video as they make interesting content for the music film which helps avoid viewer fatigue.
Editing is also be a part a really big of filming a music video as it gets all the elements of the film to flow allowing for a smooth running music video where all the key elements such as the shots, lip syncing and music have come together without any problems to avoid viewer fatigue.
